The London Good Delivery List is recognised as the international benchmark standard for the quality of gold and silver bars. When buying bullion one typically ensures that the bullion is produced by a refiner which is on the the London Good Delivery List. This is because such refiners are generally accepted by bullion dealers the world over.

Personally I would still prefer to purchase bullion from refiners who are certified by the LBMA. Even though bullion from other refiners can still be good enough quality and may still be acceptable to bullion dealers. If you have the choice, why take on the extra risk?
